Why Choose Us?
There are many operators and companies in the market offering trips to Kilimanjaro but there is wide variation in what is being offered and we understand the detail of difference between the variations on offer – making our challenges the best value in the market. Last year over 1000 successful trekkers decided to climb with us to Africa’s highest point – here are our top reasons why we think you should too:
1. Price – Our all-inclusive packaged climbs offer the best value in the market and we will not be beaten on price on any identical itinerary. We do not compromise on quality or safety, and it is because we are so experienced on the mountain that we can offer the best trips for the best prices. Many competitor prices DO NOT include national park fees, flights & tax surcharges (up to 5% of overall trip cost if levied by the airline - most operators will not include in advertised price), UK doctors on every climbs and much more. Read the small print – we did and that’s why we decided to include it all!
2. Medical Experts - A fully qualified doctor will accompany the group all the way from the UK to the summit – many companies talk about safety procedures however many DO NOT have an accompanying doctor providing medical support throughout the whole challenge. As well as being a medical practitioner in the UK, our doctors are also trained in expedition medicine with previous high altitude experience. 3. Qualified Action Challenge Mountain Leaders - All of our climbs are lead by fully qualified mountain leaders, providing guidance, constant communication, preparation, and ensuring that the challenge is operated to the high standards that many operators on the mountain can not guarantee as they do not provide qualified mountain leaders. Our leaders are also fantastic characters, who love to spend their time on mountains so you will not just be in safe hands but good company.
4. The Best Operation – Our commitment to deliver fantastic challenges means we use only the very best and experienced in-country teams, guides, porters and operators and this is under constant review to ensure standards are maintained. We regulary check and update all the equipment used on the challenge from tents, to mess tents, transfers, hotel accommodation, to food and restaurants - we do not compromise on quality to ensure your challenge is safe and also comfortable - as much as possible!
5. Pre-Challenge Support – We recognise that for most signing up to climb Kilimanjaro is a once in a lifetime experience and requires a lot of planning, training and preparation and we provide full support from the moment you sign up. You will be provided with an information pack, the option to join a training weekend, full itinerary details, passport and visa guidance, medical and altitude advice, and an invite to a pre-challenge briefing hosted by our Kilimanjaro experts, and a dedicated 'Kili Team' to answer any questions.
6. Equipment and Kit Hire discounts – For first time trekkers the equipment and clothing required can be an expensive investment – and therefore we offer all our participant discounts off leading outdoor retailers and we also offer discounted kit hire from partnered suppliers which can save over hundreds of pounds. We will also provide you with a comprehensive kit list written by many of our guides and leaders to offer you a comprehensive guide on the essential and important items.
7. Reputation and Experience – Our passion for travel is what drives us at Action Challenge. Over the last decade we have seen over 10,000 individuals take on challenges across the globe including charity, corporate and private groups, raising in excess of £30m for over 200 UK and international charities. All have chosen Action Challenge because of our experience, our attention to detail, our client care and above all, our absolute commitment to providing an experience of a lifetime that people will never forget.
8. Fun Group Experience – One of the most enjoyable and memorable experiences of climbing Kilimanjaro is the people who you meet along the way - some of whom will very quickly become friends for life. A sense of fun, camaraderie and adventure is instilled into every trip we lead and our leaders ensure everyone bonds and works as a team to get to the top - it is so important to us that whilst you are challenging yourself to get to the top of the mountain you are enjoying yourself along the way.
9. Responsible Travel - Action Challenge is committed to ensuring that the impact we have on the local community around Kilimanjaro is a positive one. We are members of the International Mountain Explorer’s Connection (IMEC), an organisation that has been set up to promote sustainable tourism in, with an emphasis on protection for Porters' welfare through their Porter Assistance Project and also a partner of KGSF, aiming to provide guides with educational scholarships and better career prospects.
10. Full ATOL & ABTA Protection - Some operators only offer ABTA (Association of British Travel Agents) which delivers quality assurance on service and standards - but not financial protection. However an ATOL (Air Travel Organisers' Licencing) covered package is financially protected by the CAA (Civil Aviation Authority) to ensure all of your package (flights & trip) is fully financially protected - it is highly recommened that you ensure the operator you choose to climb Kilimanjaro is covered by this licence - as we are!
Don’t just take our word for it, we have worked with a number of corporate organisations, charities and even celebrities, including Phones 4U, ICAP, Scope, Barnardos, British Gas, HSBC, Coutt's and the Children's Medical and Research Foundation celebrity Climb for Kids Kilimanjaro Challenge to name a few.
